How to Condition Your Hair the Right Way

January 29, 2019

Just like shampoo, don't condition your hair the way you see it done in commercials. You don't need a ton, and you don't need to apply it all over!
Conditioner is made to give extra nourishment to hair that has been through more heat and damage than the newer hair closer to your scalp.  It’s meant to go on the bottom half of your hair.  When you regularly apply conditioner right near your scalp, your hair can become greasy and weighed down--especially if you have thin, fine hair!  Only apply from the mid-shaft down.
Put a coin-sized amount in your hands and start at the bottom.  Work your way up from there.
If you want to ignore me and have the overwhelming urge to put it up toward your scalp, do that LAST when there is just a little bit of conditioner left on your fingers.
Rinse it out in cool water. Frigid water is not necessary, but heat expands the hair cuticle and lets that moisture slip right back out. Use room temperature water or a little cooler if you can handle it. This will help seal the cuticle down, locking in the moisture and giving your hair a nice shine.
